Sony’s TransferJet

TransferJet is a technology which is still under development. It allows you to transfer data between cameras, laptops, cellphones, music players etc. It has a maximum speed of 375 megabits per second and developers are planning for 500 megabits. The primary objective behind TransferJet is to eliminate the use of wires.
Sony is currently developing this technology and claims that it would be far better than wireless USB. Sony unveiled about the technology in a press conference. They did not disclose when the development of the technology will be complete as its still on. However, they said that they’ll provide this feature in all of their products.
Sony has shown concerns regarding the privacy and said that devices exchanging data can be max 1.75 inches away from each other. Sony also showed a video in which a camera was able to send data to a PC and vice versa.
Sony has also revealed that they are trying to increase the reliability of the transfer. They said the data can be transferred quickly because there would be no need of encryption as devices has to be very close to each other. However, Sony disclosed that they’ll provide an option of encrypting data also. So, it will be up to the users to decide whether they need encryption or not.
